Cold Snap

Cold Snap.  Arctic Freeze.  Bone Chilling.  All three of those statements easily describe a week we had here in Arizona.  We usually have mild and beautiful winter weather.  Once in a while we need to get out a jacket or light coat - but rarely.  I'll tell you the Cold Snap we had was record setting.  We had 5 consecutive nights of below freezing temperatures.  Then during the day it was only in the 40's or maybe very low 50's.  We took a literal "chill pill".  There was ice on any body of standing water.  One night when I went to do some Relief Society birthday deliveries, I slipped on a sidewalk covered with ice and nearly ate it.

I will post a couple pictures to prove our Cold Snap really happened.

The old sailboat in our back yard hadn't drained completely from a recent rain and it had some standing water inside.  That entire body of water was still coated with ice.  I tried to get out the really long pieces but only managed to get pieces.  And that was at noon when I discovered the ice.

The nectar in our hummingbird feeder froze.  And the birds weren't interested in having their drinks on the rocks.  Crazy!

Then our hose gave out ice chunks instead of water for a few days.  It was crazy too.  When we posted a still picture showing the evidence - someone doubted its authenticity.  Claimed the photo to be photo shopped.  Right!  Like I know how to do that!  But anyway here is the video proof -a video I made titled Cold Snap.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

This was the show in our cul de sac on the stroke of midnight.
Pretty sweet!

Doh!
Is it February already?
Where did January go?
Oh well, I guess we can still celebrate.
SO . . . . .
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
