Fathers Day

Fathers Day has come and gone.  It was celebrated in the traditional way.  He was served breakfast in bed - however I didn't sing any Primary song to him as the meal was delivered.  I made a nice lunch/dinner for Doug.  Then he positioned himself in a comfortable place to receive video calls from his kids.  He enjoyed talking to his kids a lot.  Scott even made his way over to the house to spend the evening with Doug.  An extra special treat.

We had a discussion before Mothers Day that we would not get gifts for each other.  but when Mothers Day came around - he did get me a present.  So as Fathers Day approached I debated back and forth whether I needed to get him a gift or not.  But Yugster took care of that debate.  One morning I saw that they had a neon BYU clock as one of their deals.  I immediately jumped on it.  It would be the perfect gift for Fathers Day.

A few days before Fathers Day we had some friends moving out of the ward and they were selling an Eliptical Machine.  The perfect exercise option for Doug.  So we  bought it and counted it as his Fathers Day gift.  (But I had already ordered the above mentioned gift.)  The Eliptical machine can be seen in the background of the picture below.

Anyway, I played along with the "no gift" decision until later in the evening.  I snuck the gift to the darkened bedroom.  I took the clock out of the packaging, put in the batteries, set the clock, and plugged the neon lights in.  Then I secluded myself in the gold bathroom and texted Doug.  I asked where he was and what he was doing.  I thought he'd text me back.  I think he did that but he also got up and went directly to the bedroom.  What!?  My plan to make him search the house by following directions that I would text to him was foiled!  Rats, and double darn!!

Oh well.  He seemed delighted with the clock.  The plan is to put it down in the basement "man cave" eventually.  But until the missionaries move out it isn't going anywhere near the basement.

Now all we need to do is to have Doug take some clock reading lessons.  Ha ha.

I love that smell

I went to Walgreens to get some Brut Anti Perspirant/Deodorant in an aerosol can.  When I see it is on sale I usually buy one or two.  Plus I had a coupon.  All was going normally until I went to pay for the Brut.  The cashier was about my age or a tiny bit younger.  She said "Oh, I love that smell!  It reminds me of when I was younger . . . . blah, blah, blah."  I had things to do so I sort of turned her dialogue off in my head.  Then before I knew it she had the lid off the can and was spraying it into the air to catch a whiff.  She said, "I love that smell!"  She sniffed and exhaled with delight.  I was thinking HELLO?!  WHAT DID YOU JUST DO??!!  You just used one application of MY product and now Doug will be one armpit short at the end of that can!  Sheesh!  What are these cashiers thinking anyway?  She really needs to buy her own can and just keep it at the register and spray at will.
But don't use the customer's products!
 Please!
Unbelievable!

Storage Room 2

OK, I had a great idea before the "guys" came to build us a storage room.  I wanted to take pictures at regular intervals and then put them together for a quick look at the construction.  Doug told me he had something figured out with a video camera we had.  So we set it up in the house, pointing out the window - for a great view of the event.  Here are the results:
Wah - Wah - Wah!

Nothing.  No pictures at all!  ARGH!  I could have at least pushed the button a couple times.  But I didn't want to mess with the settings that Doug had "figured out".

Lesson learned?  Try these great ideas out beforehand - to see if you really have things figured out!

Anyhow, here are a couple pictures of the Storage Room so far.  As you can see there is no door.  There is a glitch on getting the door to fit the slope of the cement.  So they will come out this week and finish that up.  More pictures will follow.

Storage Room

Getting a storage room built today.  It will be on the far southeast corner of our property on the cement slab that we had poured some time ago.  They delivered the materials for the storage room yesterday morning.  I spent many hours in the heat painting so that the walls next to the block wall will be done.  Once the storage room is built we won't be able to paint or maintain those walls at all.  And let me mention it was a mere 106 yesterday!  Sheesh!  I was beat.

I also have more hours in the hot sun to look forward to while painting the rest of the storage room after it is complete.

Getting the storage room - finally - makes this an exciting day!

Photos coming soon.
