Tomorrow

I just feel like singing this song.
So go the the link below and enjoy!

The sun'll come out
Tomorrow
Bet your bottom dollar
That tomorrow
There'll be sun!

Just thinkin' about
Tomorrow
Clears away the cobwebs,
And the sorrow
'Til there's none!

When I'm stuck with a day
That's gray,
And lonely,
I just stick out my chin
And Grin,
And Saaaayyyyy,
Oh!

The sun'll come out
Tomorrow
So ya gotta hang on
'Til tomorrow
Come what may
Tomorrow! Tomorrow!
I love ya Tomorrow!
You're only
A day
A way!

Tomorrow! Tomorrow!
I love ya Tomorrow!
You're only
A daaaaayyyyyy
A waaaaaaayyyyyyy!

Large Beetle

Dad and I got busy Saturday morning in the back yard.  He mowed the lawn and I prepared to paint the storage room doors.  I was in and out of the house several times getting the needed supplies:  paint - check, rags - check, hat - check, brush - check, roller - check, tape for masking - check, and so forth.  When I was in the house Doug came in and told me he found a monster cockroach - 6 inches long.  Really?  Is this like "the fish I caught" stories?  Gross exaggeration?!  He wanted to capture it so I could see it.  So he took out a 2# blueberry container that was empty and went to work.  He told me to get the camera and come outside.  I did that.  Then he brought over the container and it was HUGE!  As you can see in the picture it is as long as his finger and wider too.  A monster cockroach.  Well maybe not that.  But we both agreed it was probably a large beetle.  Did I say GROSS! Yeah.  So instead of trying to find a way to kill it - I had Doug flick it over the block wall next to the road.  He's only getting this one chance though.  If it returns to our yard we will destroy it!

Fireworks

We were party poopers for July 4th.  We have gone downtown several times for their fireworks show.  But had no desire to do it this year.  We anticipated a very hot day and didn't want to mill around downtown with crowds of people.  We decided to stay home and watch a movie.

During the movie I kept hearing strange clicking noises.  I thought the missionaries were doing something strange downstairs.  But every once in a while we would mute the TV and the sound would stop.  We couldn't figure it out - UNTIL - I saw something and looked out the window by the front door.  And, alas, we figured out what those strange sounds were.  Our entire cul-de-sac had a private fireworks show going on.  They had the tubes of pyrotechnic genius set up in the middle of the cul-de-sac and were setting them off in consistent intervals.  It was really pretty neat.  But Doug was already in him pajamas and we didn't go out to join them.  I'm sure we won some good neighbor points for that - NOT!  Anyway, next year we'll be sure to find our folding chairs and sit outside sipping our lemonades and enjoy a front row seat to the fireworks show!  You're all invited to come too!  No crowds.  No traffic.

Blowhole

Another video from Hawaii for you to enjoy.  After 3 days in the Waikiki area we took the Kalanianaole Highway (try saying that one fast!) heading south.  We drove all the way around the coast on our way up to Hau'ula.  That is located where the natives refer to as - North Shore.  We finished our vacation in a little apartment there.

Back to the drive around the island.  There were several things we wanted to stop and see on our drive around the island.  This video is of the Halona Blowhole.  This stop is a very touristy thing to see.  Everyone wants to see it in it's magnificence - so why not us?  We want you to see it too.

The tide wasn't high enough to see the blowhole in it's magnificence.  But we did think it was pretty cool.  It was super windy and that is what you hear in the video.  There is another very famous place nearby.  Ever heard of the movie, "From Here to Eternity?"  It is a 50's movie about soldiers in Hawaii leading up to the attack on Pearl Harbor.  Some famous actors and actresses in it are:  Burt Lancaster, Frank Sinatra, Ernest Borgnine, Deborah Kerr, and Donna Reed.  The film won eight Academy Awards including Best Picture.  The famous kissing scene in that movie is on a romantic and secluded beach is just yards from the blowhole

Scene from the movie.

How it looks really.
It is a tiny piece of beach between the blowhole and a  rocky violent shoreline.

BTW - for those who are wondering -
there will be a comic book published
 detailing our trip to Hawaii.
Please be patient!

Dip in the ocean

This is a video of Doug's first dip in the ocean on our trip to Hawaii.
 It was beautiful!
When can we go again?
